On May 24, the 7th Maple Leaf Cup "Foreign Teachers and Me" National Competition Award Ceremony and the 6th "Road to International Talents" Forum organized by the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs were held at Tsinghua University. Professor Gu Bin, a German expert from our school, was elected as the 2017 “Foreign Teacher in China” Person of the Year. The "Foreign Teachers and Me" national competition has been successfully held for six times since its launch in 2011. A total of 10 foreign experts won this honor in this competition.

Professor Ku Bin was appointed as a visiting professor of our school in 2011 and has successively held scientific research and teaching positions at the International Institute of Chinese Culture and the School of History. Professor Gu Bin is an outstanding representative of European sinologists. He is mainly committed to the study of classical and modern Chinese literature and intellectual history. He has decades of research experience in Chinese culture and has fruitful research results. He has made remarkable achievements in academic research, translation and publishing, and literary creation. To date, he has translated and published more than 200 academic works on Chinese literature, philosophy, and religion, and written more than 300 academic papers.

With his rich research experience and influence in the world's Chinese academic circles, Professor Ku Bin actively promotes international friendly exchanges of Chinese culture. He plays the role of a communication bridge between domestic academic circles and international academic circles, builds a cross-cultural academic exchange platform, helps Chinese universities establish dialogue and exchange mechanisms with foreign academic circles in high-end academic fields, and promotes a comprehensive and correct understanding of China by international academic circles. culture, making outstanding contributions to promoting Chinese culture going global. In 2016, Professor Ku Bin won the “Chinese Government Friendship Award”.

Chinese teachers and students of our school also won awards in this competition. Zhang Shufang, a teacher from the School of International Journalism and Communication, won the second prize in the 7th "Foreign Teachers and Me" National Essay Competition, and Li Huan, a student from the Arab College, and Zhang Ronghao, a student from the European Language College, won the Excellence Award. As an event organizing unit, our school won the “Excellent Organizational Unit Award”.
