On the afternoon of April 28, President Xi Jinping held a "Medal of Friendship" awarding ceremony to Kazakhstan's first President Nursultan Nazarbayev in the Central Hall of the Great Hall of the People. Xi Jinping awarded Nazarbayev the "Medal of Friendship" in recognition of his important contributions to promoting China-Kazakhstan good-neighborly friendship and the construction of China-Kazakhstan comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination. Teachers and students of the Russian School of our school, international students from Kazakhstan, and relevant personnel from the International Office and other functional departments were invited to participate in this event as university representatives.

Xi Jinping pointed out that today, we held a grand ceremony here to award the "Medal of Friendship", the highest foreign honorary medal of the People's Republic of China, to the first President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, an old friend and good friend of the Chinese people. The first President Nazarbayev was a politician with international prestige and the founder and promoter of the China-Kazakhstan comprehensive strategic partnership. Under the leadership and promotion of him and Chinese leaders, China-Kazakhstan relations have always maintained a high level of operation and have yielded fruitful results. The first President Nazarbayev used his foresight to promote the vigorous development of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia, and made important contributions to maintaining regional and even world peace and stability.

Xi Jinping pointed out that in 2013, I proposed the initiative to jointly build the Silk Road Economic Belt for the first time in Kazakhstan, and received enthusiastic response from the first President Nursultan Nazarbayev and all walks of life in Kazakhstan. Within the framework of jointly building the "Belt and Road", China and Kazakhstan took the lead in carrying out production capacity cooperation, deepening the docking of development strategies, and implementing a series of major cooperation projects. China-Kazakhstan cooperation has set an example of complementary advantages, mutual benefit and win-win results in the international community, and has injected full positive energy into promoting the construction of a new type of international relations and building a community with a shared future for mankind. It is hoped that China and Kazakhstan will join hands in realizing national rejuvenation and national prosperity, pursue their dreams and continue to create a glorious future for China-Kazakhstan relations.

Teachers and students of our school witnessed this historic moment at the scene, and they all said that this award ceremony is a reflection of the sincere friendship between China and Kazakhstan and is of great significance to the development of relations between the two countries. Students from the Russian Language School expressed that they must work harder to learn the language, strive to become messengers of international cultural exchanges, and play a role as a bridge and link in the process of multinational diplomacy.
